When one enters into a relationship with God under the New Covenant upon repentance and baptism God grants the gift of the Holy Spirit to that person. There are many benefits conferred to those who are given the Holy Spirit. What did Christ mean when he told Peter to feed his sheep? (John 21:15-18). Did this assignment apply only to Peter, or are there others charged with the responsibility of feeding God’s sheep? How does this apply in the Church? How are the “sheep,” as they are described in this analogy, to respond to what they are being fed? The ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah were destroyed because the people were not faithful to their covenant with God. The physical Temple was destroyed multiple times because of unfaithfulness.
