God Is Love

If you were to choose one word to summarize or epitomize God’s nature, what would it be? Various Greek philosophers had their ideas, as did the Egyptians and other cultures.

But there is one concept of the epitome of God’s nature which is found nowhere in Greek philosophy or Egyptian religion, but is found in the Bible. And in this concept we can come to understand in a profound way not only the nature of God, but how we can, with his help, become like him as he intends. The Bible tells us that “God is love.”

God’s love is reflected in the festivals he commanded to be kept, such as the Passover, which depicts the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to pay for our sins. In this message learn more about God’s love, and how you may benefit from it, and learn to share in it, to the end of eternal life in God’s family and Kingdom.

Follow God

The Bible has a lot to say about leading and following. And the Bible is very specific in telling us whom to follow. We are to follow God. Any other choices about this question are subordinate to that choice. Either we are following God, or we are not. And, as Rod Reynolds explains, the choices we make determine the answer to that question.

What Must We Do to be Saved?

When the Apostle Paul was in Philippi preaching the gospel he was accused of sedition, beaten and thrown into prison. During the middle of the night God caused an earthquake and miraculously all the prison doors were opened and the chains binding the prisoners were loosed.

“And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, ‘Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.’ Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?'” (Acts 16:27-33).

Is Jesus God?

From the beginning there has been confusion and misunderstanding about the nature and person of God. Satan in the Garden of Eden deceived Adam and Eve telling them that they could be like God through disobedience to him (Genesis 3:5). Soon men were worshiping demons, and men, the creatures of the earth, and the sun, moon, planets and stars–all being called gods (Romans 1:18-23). Yet mankind for the most part had cut himself off from the true God and knew little about him.

When Jesus Christ was sent in human flesh and blood he revealed more than had been previously known about the two personalities in the Godhead (Matthew 11:27, “know,” epiginṓskō fully know; John 1:18). Yet during and after Jesus life on earth there continued to be great confusion among men about God and about Jesus himself. A key question for those living during the lifetime of Jesus on earth was “Is Jesus God?” And it continued to be a key question after his death and resurrection. It’s still a question that comes up often. Some have asked, if Jesus is God, does that mean there are two Gods? Let’s explore what the Bible reveals in answer to this question, “Is Jesus God?”
